METABOLIC & WEIGHT RESEARCH / DESK

Corrections, newly published trials and citation queries — the correspondence that keeps a review current.

Editorial correspondence

This desk keeps an editorial mailbox for three kinds of message, and they are the three it can act on.

Corrections. A misstated figure, a claim attributed to the wrong trial, a population described imprecisely, a reference number pointing at the wrong paper. Corrections are the most valuable message this desk receives, and a specific one — the page, the sentence, the source that contradicts it — can be checked and acted on the same week.

Newly published literature. Body composition after incretin therapy is an actively moving field, and the reference list here is a snapshot. A newly published randomised trial, meta-analysis or body-composition substudy that bears on any of the four compounds reviewed is squarely in scope, particularly one that measures fat and lean mass separately in a weight-loss population, which is exactly the evidence this desk reports as missing.

Citation queries. Questions about which numbered source supports which sentence, or about the provenance of a figure that is deliberately reported without a reference number.

Outside this desk's remit

Several categories of message cannot be answered, and saying so plainly is more useful than a silence.

No individual medical questions. This desk cannot say whether a compound suits a particular person, cannot interpret laboratory results, and cannot comment on an existing prescription or a symptom. Those require a clinician with a history and an examination.

No dosing, schedules or protocols, for any of the four compounds, in any context.

No sourcing. This desk does not stock, supply, compound, private-label, resell or recommend any product, and does not maintain a list of anyone who does. Requests for vendors, prices, availability or purchasing assistance will not be answered, including for the compound on this desk that has no approved human use at all.

No commercial placements. This review takes no product placements, sponsored inclusions or paid mentions, which is what allows a page to report that a trial measured nothing about muscle.
